Applying to the CASA Program

Applicants

There will be no call for 2021-2022 Applications. 

Due to COVID-19, The Center for Arabic Study Abroad (CASA) will NOT be calling for new applications for the 2021-2022 program year.  Please check in with us again in Fall 2021.  The Application & Instructions pages are helpful to review in order to prepare for the process.

Eligibility

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and have 3 years of formal instruction in Arabic prior to joining CASA. Non-U.S. citizens may apply as a Pay-Your-Own-Way participant. The program is designed for graduate students and applicants must fall into one of the following categories:

  • current graduate students (e.g., PhD or MA student)
  • undergraduate students in their junior or senior year
  • holders of either a bachelor's or master's degree.

The CASA I application process includes the following components:

  1. APPLICATION - Submitting an Application Form with transcripts. See Application & Instructions.
     
  2. SELECTION EXAM - Taking a Selection Exam to assess listening, reading, writing and oral proficiency skills is part of the application process. Once you have completed the application, please review this page carefully to learn how to register for all sections of this exam.
     
    • The full exam should be taken with a proctor on the following dates (details on the exam page):
